Informercials
Everyone sees the infomercials that are always on TV bascially every time we turn the TV on. Price is a big part of the four P's of marketing. These infomercials offer products that are cheap and they always seem to work very well on TV but I doubt really work that well when the product is in your hands. Quality for a consumer is something they always want to see in the product they invest in. These products offered through the infomercials are extremely cheap and quality might not be too far behind. There are always new products that are being displayed on infomercials. One quality product I have seen through an infomercial was Oxy Clea, the product actually really worked well. Since it seems like there are so many different products on infomercials, do you think these products actually work?
In response to Aubrey's VH1
It seems some what surprising that VH1's viewings went down recently. VH1 shows some good TV here and there but they have been around for a while. Trying to attract more women to watch VH1 makes sense to me since they control 80% of the market as Aubrey says. I also believe women watch more of a variety of television shows than men do. Mostly men will watch sports and movie channels along with some different TV shows that they are interested in. I do believe this could help VH1's ratings go up. I also believe that if they showed more movies on their station then they would see their ratings go up as well.
ESPNews Sponsorships
While watching the NBA and NHL playoffs this past weekend on ESPN there were many different sponsors for ESPN. Most of the sponsors would attract the attention of middle aged men. This makes sense since most of the audience of ESPN would be middle aged men watching sports. Bud Lite was a big sponsor that would come up often throughout the games during commercials. A lot of these commercials were also brought back with a large advertisement on the screen showing the bud lite symbol. The marketing of beer during sporting events makes a lot of sense to me since a lot of guys will drink beer while watching the games on TV. Do you think these advertisements actually effect sales of beer companies or would they still sell the same amount of beer regardless?
In response to Dan Bayrouty's Ramunto's
Promotion is a huge part of marketing and it seems that Ramunto's did a nice job that day. Free pizza and cheap beer is what college kids are looking for. Adding in the beer part was a major contribution in my opinion since Ramunto's can actually make money off the beer while kids are enjoying their free pizza. Giving away free trips or items also was a big help for promoting Ramunto's pizzaria. Getting their company off their feet would be the most difficult thing to do so far since there are at least four other pizza joints in Keene, like Dan mentioned. In my opinion I believe this is worth it for companies in the long run, as long as they keep up with their advertising to attract more customers. If they do not keep up with the advertising then this will not be successful for the company in the long run.
Kay Jewelers
This is the time a lot of people get married. Lately I have seen more and more commercials regarding jewelery stores that are advertising wedding rings. This afternoon I saw a new commercial for Kay Jewelers that was showing a couple getting married. I didn't understand why these commercials were coming on more frequently until today when I realized it is almost May. Although it is almost the time people get married, I would assume they proposed a while ago and already had the ring. Do you think advertising during this time of the year is helpful to sales at jewelery stores?

ACE
While watching the show Cake Boss there was a commercial of a man in his neighborhood gathering them all together to get their to do lists done. He talks quickly how ACE will help those to do lists become done with the help of ACE. The ACE store comes in to the picture and it shows how quick and cheap the prodcuts are there in order to get your to do lists done. Many adults and people that own homes will be watching this show and it makes sense for ACE to have a commercial on during this time. Drawing the attention of homeowners and people of the right age to ACE will help them draw more customers to ACE. While our economy is struggling still, does it matter if ACE advertises a lot considering tuning up your house if a want than a need?
In response to Erik's Stumble Upon
I have heard of Stumble Upon but never visited the website until I read the blog on Erik's page. Stumble Upon seems like a pretty cool website considering it is almost customized towards you. By checking off your interests and likes it will bring up articles or websites that are directed towards your likes. I can see where Stumble Upon would be a little bit better than a earh engine since it brings up websites that you don't even have to search for, just click your likes. While checking out Stumble Upon it caught my eye since there are many interests you can check off that will bring up websites that might catch your attention. The world wide web is so big nowadays that there are plenty of websites that people would be interested in but just have't discovered yet since there are billions of websites, but with the help of stumble upon people will find these websites.
